Approved 2025-26 School Calendar

technology710

The LFCS Advisory Board has officially approved the 2025-26 school calendar. After a thorough discussion on how the schedule impacts our school families, staff, and academic programming, we have developed a calendar that strives to provide balance while addressing these key considerations.

Key Elements to Consider:

  • Instructional Hours Requirement: Elementary schools in our state are required to provide a minimum of 962.5 instructional hours per year. Our approved schedule exceeds this requirement, offering approximately 1,025 hours while maintaining a start date of September 2nd and an end date of May 15th. We recognize that some families may have children at the junior high or high school level who will start earlier, and we appreciate your flexibility in managing those transitions.

  • Consistency and Professional Development: Through collaboration with our staff, advisory board, and Mr. Leier, we prioritized maintaining consistent school weeks and minimizing disruptions for families. LFCS staff meets weekly to address academic performance and school events. Because of this structure, our staff does not require as much dedicated time for collaborative work, allowing us to keep students in the classroom for greater consistency.

    However, this schedule does include:

    • Two full days where parents will need to handle both drop-off and pick-up.

    • Seven afternoons where public school busing will not be available, requiring parents to arrange for pickup.

These dates are clearly noted on the school calendar, and we will provide regular reminders throughout the year to assist with planning.

  • A Balanced Approach for Families and Staff: Our goal is to ensure that families and staff can enjoy the month of August before the school year begins and then move forward with a predictable and reliable schedule. This allows for better planning and a more structured academic year. If this schedule proves to work effectively for our school, we will plan to approach it similarly each year into the future.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to LFCS. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Leier, Father Miller, Board President Casandra Zwingel, or any of our board members.
